The book Science and Sailing with Gaia brings together travel narrative and scientific observation, developed in close collaboration with Swiss astrophysicist Thierry Courvoisier. Rather than separating content, the project establishes a continuity between storytelling and explanation, allowing different levels of reading to coexist within the same object.
The editorial system is built on simple geometric forms and bold colours, inspired by maritime signal flags. These elements form a graphic alphabet that organizes chapters, themes and transitions throughout the book. Typography, images and diagrams are articulated within a precise layout, ensuring clarity while maintaining a steady rhythm across the pages.
The publication operates as a navigable system. Visual markers guide the reader through complex content, allowing information to be understood progressively. What emerges is a form of knowledge design where structure supports curiosity, making scientific ideas approachable through form, sequence and visual clarity.
